Qigong (Chi Kung) literally means “energy work” or “the skill to work with our life energy” and stands for a variety of exercises. These have the common goal of creating a calm and balanced flow of our Qi energy. Through Qigong we can not only promote our health, but also regain our youthful vitality and robustness. If practiced at a high level, we can even increase our inner strength and use it in internal martial arts. The life energy “Qi” is of central importance in Chinese health teachings. It flows in the human body in channels that are called meridians in the west. The unhindered flow of Qi energy is the key to our wellbeing.

Yijinjing Qigong online course

There are different Qigong sets with different goals and focuses. I personally teach Baduanjin (8 pieces of brocade), fundamental Qigong and Zhan Zhuang Gong (Standing Pillars), including Yijin Jing Qigong. The training method is mostly based on the authentic and essential principles of the Yijin Jing (Muscle & Tendon Changing Classics.) Among other things, Qigong is a tool for internal development but it can also be practiced solely for its gentle movements. Depending on the method we are able to enter an invigorating state through deep relaxation and many small adjustments in the body, in which we support our natural inherited healing ability. Through gentle and controlled movements, we work with our Qi and merge body and mind. "Shenfa" refers to the method of body development and the alteration of the connective tissue and fascia in the body, which take on a tendon-like quality. This allows the body to slowly develop from within and to regain its youthful vitality and robustness.

Tai Chi (Taijiquan) is a Chinese martial and movement art. The training also includes various Qigong exercises. Among other things, it is about the inner body development through a method called "Shenfa". Through deep relaxation and many small adjustments in the body, we are able to take on a very invigorating state in which we support the natural healing ability of our body. Through gentle and controlled movements, which have their origin in the internal martial art, we improve our coordination and merge body and mind. The difference between tai chi for health and tai chi as a martial art are the martial applications that involve the movements. It is often practiced for its gentle movements and brings great benefits both physically and mentally.

Through the training you will get a very well coordinated body and build up a lot of strength (muscles and tendons). You merge your body with the mind and develop a better posture, an elastic and robust quality in your body and more mobility in the joints. Taijiquan helps the body to return to its strong and natural state by moving as a unit. It can be used not only as an effective martial art, but also as a tool for spiritual advancement.

Taijiquan (online)

In times like these, online learning is more important than ever. That’s why Taijiquan training is now available in the online academy.

Learning Tai Chi online is a bit more of a challenge and requires strong conviction and motivation. There is nothing better than a Shifu who can correct you on the spot. Learning the movement sequences and the important basic principles of Tai Chi can, however, be conveyed quite well via the internet. However, it’s best to book a private session from time to time to make sure the many small “technical details” and sometimes complicated instructions regarding alignment and positioning are done correctly. The online academy's Tai Chi program will start with the basics and then, in small increments, teach the deeper principles. With regular training, the right qualities will develop in your body and you will be able to experience this wonderful art of movement yourself and learn to love it immediately. I teach Yang style Taijiquan.
